Featuring the new Mach Tread 3.0 compound and Swift Easy Casing technology, rolling resistance is improved by 10% (compared to the previous generation tire). The tread width is 15% wider, improving grip and cornering performance. Product Description Image Paris, March 26 – Hutchinson, a pioneer in French bicycle tire technology, is pleased to announce the Blackbird performance road tire. Cycling ultimately comes down to this: the 3 square centimeters of contact between the tire and the road surface. Since its founding in 1890, Hutchinson has woven a story for this small area. The exciting next chapter in this story is the Blackbird. This chapter is written by the force that has supplied tires to champions for over a century, pouring its unending passion into innovation and performance, and advancing the sport of cycling. The Blackbird is the fastest tire to date, born from four years of research and development. It boasts a 10% improvement in rolling resistance compared to the previous generation Fusion 5. At the same time, it has achieved a class-leading long lifespan of over 4,000 kilometers in real-world riding. Product Description Image At the heart of the reduced rolling resistance is a new structure called SwiftEasyCasing. The casing wrapped around the bead is directly bonded to the central polyamide puncture-resistant layer. In conventional tires, these have an overlapping structure. The final layer of the casing wraps around both sides of the bead to reduce air leakage. SwiftEasyCasing makes contact with the road surface more flexible, significantly improving rolling resistance and comfort, while reducing weight by limiting the overlap of the 127TPI casing to two layers. As a result, the ultra-fast, comfortable, and lightweight Blackbird weighs just 290 grams with its 28mm tires. Another technology makes its debut with the Blackbird: Hutchinson's fastest and most efficient tread compound ever, "Mach Tread 3.0." This all-new compound boasts incredibly low rolling resistance and high rebound, resulting in a 25% improvement in energy return when in contact with the road surface. Product description image "Mach Tread 3.0" is 10% harder than the previous 11 Storm compound, improving its ability to resist the tearing force of road debris and boasting a lifespan of over 4,000 km. Despite this hardness, grip performance remains at the same level as the previous generation. The design is based on the latest wide rim, and the tread is 15% wider than the previous generation tire. This is combined with a more flexible Swift Easy Casing. As a result, the tire's contact area with the road is wider laterally than longitudinally, enabling aggressive cornering and reduced rolling resistance. Available in two colors, black and tan wall, and three sizes: 26mm, 28mm, and 30mm, with weights of 275g, 290g, and 310g respectively. The 28mm and 30mm versions are also hookless compatible. The tube-type model does not use the Swift Easy Casing, enhancing puncture resistance. Available in two colors, black and tan wall, with weights of 225g, 245g, and 265g.
