Thunder Model "1/35 British LRDG Ford F-30 Gun Truck with 37mm Bofors Cannon, Includes Two Figures" plastic model kit.
Very early in the LRDG's history, it was recognized that patrols might be at risk of ambush attacks by enemy armored vehicles.
To counter this potential threat, the rear truck of each patrol was equipped with some type of light artillery.
The 37mm Bofors cannon was mounted on the Chevrolet WB and Ford F30, but was largely unpopular with soldiers due to the vehicle's weight and space requirements.
Since enemy armored vehicles were rarely encountered, some of the Bofors cannons were sometimes removed by the truck crews to make room for supplies.
The LRDG's Bofors gun trucks typically carried 45 rounds of AP and HE ammunition.
It was mounted on a special gun carriage that could rotate 360 degrees, and the height of the cargo bed's tailgate was low to ensure optimal gun firing.
The LRDG F-30 has the hood, doors, and roof removed, allowing for a clear view of the engine, and has been meticulously recreated.
The unique Bofors gun carriage has also been recreated based on reference material.
