Product Introduction
IBG 1/72 scale German Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 Fighter, Final Production Model, Marienburg Factory, Plastic Model Kit.
The Fw 190A was an outstanding fighter, but repeated modifications increased its weight and limited engine power, making it inferior to new Allied fighters. The BMW air-cooled engines, in particular, suffered from severe power loss at high altitudes, making them difficult to intercept bombers. Therefore, liquid-cooled engines were tested, and the Jumo-powered version was adopted as the D-type. The engine replacement reduced power loss at high altitudes and improved performance, contributing to the Luftwaffe's final glory as an anti-fighter aircraft.
