Assemble! Protect the skies over Kiev! UGears, the pride of Ukraine, has created a 1/72-scale model of the MiG-29 fighter jet piloted by the Ghost of Kiev. This model stands out for its realism, featuring movable ailerons, wing flaps, tail rudders, front and rear retractable landing gear, detachable missiles, and a pop-up canopy. However, the greatest feature of this DIY wooden airplane model is its ethereal levitation, achieved through the use of tensegrity (tension-integrated or floating-compression), an elegant structural engineering principle also used in bridges and stadium roofs. Four thin fishing lines, with adjustable tension via ratchets, allow the DIY airplane to magically float above the stand, seemingly floating even though the fishing lines are below the plane. A slider at the rear of the model allows you to rotate the aircraft left and right to simulate flight. An adjuster underneath the stand also allows you to change the MiG-29's pitch angle.
