"Tsurushi kazari" (hanging ornaments) are a traditional craft passed down since the Edo period.
They are displayed beside Hina dolls to celebrate Hinamatsuri.
They are said to have originated as handmade ornaments, stitch by stitch, by grandmothers using leftover kimono fabric, in hopes of their grandchildren's healthy growth.
In China, goldfish are kept as talismans for good fortune and business prosperity, as their graceful swimming is associated with a vibrant and carefree life. The Chinese word for goldfish, pronounced "chin-yui," means "gold overflowing with money."
Their red color is believed to ward off evil and ward off misfortune.
Goldfish lay many eggs, making them auspicious fish that brings good fertility.
They are recommended as a decorative addition to Hina dolls or as a gorgeous addition to any room.
