The second installment of the "Irem Collection" series, which brings back Irem's arcade and home console classics, is the long-awaited first port to console! Includes 7 versions of 3 titles: Gunforce, Geostorm, and Air Duel!
The second installment of the "Irem Collection" series, which brings Irem's arcade and home console classics back to the latest consoles, is finally here! It includes seven versions of three titles: the Japanese and US arcade versions of "Gunforce," the Super Famicom and SNES versions, "Geostorm" the Japanese and US arcade versions, and the arcade version of "Air Duel." This highly anticipated lineup includes all of these games being ported to consoles for the first time!
"GunForce" is a side-scrolling action game released in 1991. Players take on the role of soldiers, fighting enemies with a variety of weapons. The game features vehicles and mecha that appear during stages, from tanks and helicopters to robots, allowing players to attack. GunForce's appeal lies in the wide variety of attack methods and the sheer intensity of the action. The game includes the arcade version, the later Super Famicom version, and the SNES version released in the US, all of which support two-player simultaneous play. "Geostorm" is the sequel to "GunForce," released overseas as "GunForce II." Its appeal lies in its improved vehicles and mecha, unique enemy characters, storytelling effects, and spectacular battles with constant explosions all over the screen, beautifully rendered with meticulous pixel art. Like "GunForce," this game supports two-player simultaneous play. "Air Duel" is a two-player vertical-scrolling shooter released in 1990. At the start of each stage, you can choose between two types of aircraft: a fighter jet or a helicopter.
Choosing the right mecha to suit the stage's characteristics is crucial to conquering the stage. The detailed and beautiful 2D graphics that are a hallmark of Irem's works are still alive and well in this game, and the depiction of the futuristic and somewhat dark mecha has a unique appeal.
All of the titles included support two-player simultaneous play (local multiplayer). Furthermore, to help you enjoy these masterpieces to the fullest, various features are included, such as online rankings, on-the-fly rewind functionality, and save and load status.
The common appeal of all Irem's classic works is the graphics and music that express a unique worldview at a high level. The limited edition comes with a soundtrack containing the game's music and a special art book featuring graphics expressed in pixel art that can be described as artisanal, as luxurious bonuses. Be sure to purchase the limited edition, which will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the game, graphics, and music of Irem's masterpiece.
