[Brand Introduction]
Hamilton is an American watch brand founded in 1892 in Hamilton, Pennsylvania. The brand gained recognition with its first pocket watch, the 'Broadway Limited', which was known for accurately providing train times. In 1914, Hamilton became the official supplier to the U.S. Army Air Corps, and from 1919 began offering services for ski events and the U.S. Postal Service. During the 1930s, many airlines officially used Hamilton watches. In 1947, during World War II, Hamilton temporarily halted public sales and produced nearly one million military watches. In 1970, they introduced the world's first digital watch, 'Pulsure', and in 1977, Hamilton was acquired by the SSIH group which included Omega, Tissot, and Lanco. With its incorporation into SMH in 1983, Hamilton became a brand under the Swatch Group.
