Product Introduction
This is a Roden 1/32 scale U.S. Boeing Stearman PT-13 Kadet biplane trainer plastic model.
This aircraft was developed by Stearman Aircraft as a military trainer.
Its first flight was in 1934, and even at the time, the aircraft's biplane structure with a hub-clad wooden frame was outdated. However, its simple structure made it suitable for low-cost mass production, and it was ordered in large quantities for pilot training during World War II.
Stearman was acquired by Boeing in 1937, but production of the Kadet continued.
After the war, the military released a large number of these aircraft, which were widely used by civilians.
Furthermore, their high maneuverability allowed for advanced aerobatics, and many are still in operation today.
The PT-13 was an early production model equipped with a Lycoming R-680 engine, and over 2,000 were produced.
The Navy adopted it as the N2S and used it for pilot training.
