Product Introduction
Fine Molds 1/72 US F-14A Tomcat VF-2 Bounty Hunters Plastic Model FX05
VF-2 (2nd Fighter Squadron), commonly known as the "Bounty Hunters," was the first F-14 squadron to enter service, reorganized alongside VF-1.
During the Vietnam War, the aircraft was deployed aboard the aircraft carrier Enterprise, participating in its first combat mission, assisting in the evacuation of Americans living in Saigon after the fall of Saigon.
As the Cold War reached its peak in the 1980s, US Navy aircraft began to adopt a blue-gray, low-visibility camouflage known as countershade.
However, with the end of the Cold War, the use of colorful paints was relaxed toward the end of the 1980s for naval squadron commander and CAG (Covered Air Group) aircraft.
This kit recreates the vibrant 1970s VF-2 aircraft livery from 1988.
This paint scheme was later applied to the F-14D, which replaced it, and is now carried over to the converted F/A-18F.
