✅A Gender-Nonbinary, Inclusive Approach While most tarot decks have traditionally adhered to a gender binary (i.e., categorizing genders into only two categories: male and female), Transient Light Tarot aims to create a tarot deck that breaks away from such stereotypes. Author and queer artist Ari Wisner believes that tarot "is for everyone, regardless of gender, identity, sexuality, ethnicity, body type, or belief system." In this work, she renamed cards that previously indicated gender differences and sought to express their essence without visually suggesting gender differences. Additionally, she minimized depictions of bodies, skin, and clothing to avoid evoking specific gender roles, ethnicity, body types, or ages from the illustrations. This modern tarot deck is suitable for those who are uncomfortable with traditional tarot gender representation.
