This is a plastic model kit of Kajika's "1/700 Japanese Navy Super-Dreadnought Battlecruiser Hiei, 1915."
The Hiei was the second ship of the Kongō-class battleships. Construction began at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal and the ship was launched in November 1912.
It differs from the Kongō in several ways, including the type of main armament and Japanese-made boilers, and its most notable exterior feature is its tallest funnel.
At the outbreak of World War I, the Hiei set sail in search of the German East Asia Squadron, and was also deployed to transport relief supplies after the Great Kanto Earthquake.
After being transformed into a training battleship and an imperial vessel, the Hiei underwent a major refit in 1936 and was deployed to fight in World War II.
