This is a plastic model kit of Kajika's "1/700 Japanese Navy Super-Dreadnought Battlecruiser Kongo 1914."
In 1907, it was decided that the Kongo would be built as an armored cruiser, but in light of the global shipbuilding situation, the construction plans were changed to a super-dreadnought battlecruiser.
At the time, the Japanese Navy had much to learn from Europe and the United States in terms of construction concepts and technology, and it was the Japanese Navy that drew up the basic plan and commissioned the design and construction of the British company Vickers.
Launched in 1912, completed in August of the following year, and delivered to Yokosuka by the Japanese Navy.
As the largest and most powerful battleship in the world at the time, the Japanese Navy achieved great strides in both military strength and technological prowess.
Vickers' cooperation with the Japanese Navy was a great help in the subsequent construction of three ships of the same type.
The Kongo was the last large capital ship ordered by the Japanese Navy from a foreign country, but it remains a notable instance in shipbuilding history.
