Phantom power is a great convenience when using condenser microphones. However, in most other cases, phantom power can wreak havoc. The Triton Audio Phantom Blocker is exactly what it sounds like: a phantom power blocking accessory. This handy accessory blocks phantom power while leaving the audio signal intact. This in-line device blocks phantom power on both the male and female ends of an XLR connector, allowing audio signals to flow freely in either direction. At Sweetwater, we primarily use phantom blockers to protect ribbon microphones from damage. They also prevent input transformer damage caused by unbalanced TRS-to-XLR cable shorts.
