About the Artist
He debuted in 1972 as the leader of the rock 'n' roll band "Carol." In 1977, he became the first Japanese solo rock artist to perform at the Nippon Budokan, and in 1978, he performed at Korakuen Stadium. His book "Nariagari" (The Rise to Power) sparked a massive "Yazawa boom." In 2007, he performed an unprecedented 100 Budokan concerts. In 2008, he took a break from concert activities for the first time in 37 years. Then, in 2009, he captivated 50,000 people with his 60th birthday celebration concert, "ROCK'N'ROLL IN TOKYO DOME." In 2012, he celebrated his 40th anniversary since his debut, releasing his first original album in two years, "Last Song," on August 1st, and holding his 40th anniversary live concert, "EIKICHI YAZAWA 40th ANNIVERSARY LIVE 'BLUE SKY'," at Nissan Stadium on September 1st. In addition, a DVD of the concert was released on November 7th, and he performed 22 shows at 16 locations nationwide, "EIKICHI YAZAWA CONCERT TOUR 'JAMMIN' ALL NIGHT'." He also performed at the Nippon Budokan 122 times, breaking the record for the most shows ever.
