Introduction
The "Legacy Recording Series" jazz edition, which connects timeless masterpieces and great musical legacies to the future, has begun. You might find a record here that will change your life. Formed in Los Angeles in 1973, this renowned orchestra led the global big band jazz scene until its disbandment in 2003. Every repertoire is filled with energy, from "Kogun," a quintessential example of Japanese-Western eclecticism, to "Elegy," a remake of a classic '50s song for big band. Not only are Akiyoshi's piano and compositional arrangements, and Tabackin's flute and tenor saxophone, but the participating members, including Bobby Shew and Mike Price, also deserve special mention.
