The destroyer Yukikaze was the eighth of the 19 Kagero-class destroyers, completed at the Sasebo Naval Arsenal in January 1940, the year before the war. The Kagero-class brought together the construction know-how that had evolved from the Special and Shiratsuyu-class destroyers. Displacing 2,000 tons, it was equipped with three 12.7 cm twin guns, two 61 cm quadruple torpedo launchers, and a 52,000 horsepower engine, making it a fleet-class destroyer capable of a top speed of 35 knots. Yukikaze is known as one of the fortunate ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy, having participated in major naval battles during the Pacific War and remaining active until the end of the war without being lost in action. ●This product recreates the final appearance of the ship during Operation Ten-Ichi-Go (Okinawa Special Attack Operation) in April 1945. ●Includes etched parts that allow for detailed reproduction of even the finer details that are difficult to recreate with injection-molded parts. ●The display base includes parts that differ from the standard version, featuring a wooden deck and striped pattern. ●Enables the expressive modeling possible at the large 1/350 scale. ・The hull and bottom are divided into parts at the waterline. Both full-hull and offshore types can be recreated. ・The parts are divided and colored to match the main color tones. ・The gray is modeled after the Kure Naval Arsenal color, and comes in a total of six colors, including linoleum and bottom. ・The hull is divided into left and right sections. The parts fit together with a press-fit boss. ・Details that cannot be fully reproduced at 1/700 scale, including the clamps for the outboard electrical wiring, the thickness of the steel plates, the portholes, and the eaves, are reproduced. ・The bottom is molded as a single piece. The thickness and overlap of the steel plates are reproduced, resulting in a precise surface texture. - The water supply and drainage ports at the bottom, the listening devices, and the keel rivets are all reproduced with delicate sculpting. - The main guns are molded using a slide mold, resulting in a one-piece structure with molding around the entire turret. - The gun barrels can be elevated and depressed individually even after assembly, and the slide mold allows the muzzles to be rendered open. - Even the underside, which is hidden after assembly, has been meticulously recreated down to the smallest detail, including the reinforcing girders. - The 61cm quadruple torpedo tubes, a characteristic of the Kagero-class, are precisely reproduced with three parts: the cover, the torpedo tube, and the torpedo. - After assembly, they can be aimed left and right and rotated. - The bridge base is molded using a slide mold, resulting in a one-piece molded part with molding and sculpting around the entire side wall. - The Type 94 compass at the top of the bridge can be rotated even after assembly, allowing it to be aligned with the main guns. - The bridge windows are made with dedicated clear molded parts. The mast is a two-piece structure consisting of a front landing gear and two rear landing gears, and the lookout tower and No. 22 radar are also precisely reproduced. The funnel is made by joining the left and right sides together, and the funnel cap is mesh-like and open, resulting in a realistic finish. The black paint on the funnel cap and funnel top is reproduced in advance using colored parts. The steam exhaust pipe and cooking funnel are separate parts from the engine funnel, creating a three-dimensional design. The linoleum sections of the front and rear upper decks are molded in brown colored parts. The linoleum retainers are delicately carved. The steel deck in the center of the upper deck features a non-slip (strip) pattern with detailed raised carving. The aft torpedo loading device and searchlight tower base are integrated into one part using a slide mold, with carvings on both the sides and top. The removal of the No. 2 main gun/additional machine gun turret, a distinctive feature of the final version, is available with dedicated parts. - Dedicated parts are included for the ship's final appearance, featuring a depth charge track at the stern. - Pre-cut stickers are included to recreate the coloring of the naval ensign and the interior of the cutter. - Two etching parts are included, including additional parts such as handrails and replacement parts for injection parts. - Metal parts are included for the Type 93 61cm oxygen torpedoes, 12.7cm gun barrels, and depth charges. - Two types of crew parts are included, each on one runner: 70 standing figures and 71 working and firing figures. - Crew parts are molded in white to allow for better color reproduction during painting. Molded parts are available in seven colors: Kure Naval Arsenal color, ship bottom color, linoleum color, black, transparent, gold, and white. [Included Contents] - 34 runners - 3 assembly instructions - 2 etching parts - 26 metal parts - 1 paper sticker. *This product is made in Japan. *This is a plastic model kit that requires assembly.
