Get to Know Japan, the Land of Beauty!
Introducing the October/November Issue of Wa-Raku
This issue's main feature is the long-awaited National Treasures!
These masterpieces, recognized as national treasures, harbor a beauty that never gets old, no matter how many times you look at them.
First up is the must-see right now: Ito Jakuchu's "Dobutsu Sai-e," a series of 30 scrolls, just designated a National Treasure last year!
Also featured are the ultimate National Treasure, the Yohen Tenmoku, of which only three complete examples remain in the world; the Ashura statue at Kofuku-ji Temple, with its melancholy gaze; and masterpieces from the Tokyo National Museum, a treasure trove of national treasures.
We've included as many original-size works as possible, sure to satisfy any art fan's craving!
Enjoy the beauty of these national treasures as if you were facing them in an art museum.
And of course, the supplement is all about national treasures! We've created a cool bag inspired by the hugely popular Zenzai-Doji statue from Abe Monjuin Temple in Nara, known for its adorable, turning-back pose! It comes with a long strap that can be carried by hand or worn cross-body. Its generous size, measuring approximately 38cm long and 35cm wide, makes it perfect for traveling! Our second feature focuses on everyday Kyoto cuisine. From Kyoto favorite lunch spots that will make you want to eat right away to essential ingredients on the Kyoto dinner table and a glossary of terms that are fun to know, we examine the richness of the capital's culinary culture from various angles. Plus, Mariko Hayashi travels to Kyoto to visit the setting of The Tale of the Heike, and more. This issue of Wa-Raku is packed with content!
