About Mino ware
Mino ware originated in the Mino region in central Japan in the 7th century AD and has a history of over 1,300 years.
As tea ceremony culture became more widespread during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, Mino ware became beloved by tea ceremony masters and aristocrats.
The shapes and colors of Mino ware have been refined over time. The yellow and ochre Kise, the deep green Oribe, the white and pink Shino, and the pure black Setoguro are highly prized by ceramic enthusiasts not only in Japan but around the world.
Currently, over 50% of the ceramics in Japan are produced in this region, making it one of the most important regions and cultures that the Japanese people must protect.
