◇ (Prayer for safe childbirth, guardian deity for child-rearing) This is a metal Buddha statue cast in Japan. It is sized to be enjoyed in your daily life as the principal image for your Buddhist altar, a talisman to ward off evil, or as a tasteful piece of interior decor.
Jizo Bodhisattva (Jizo Bodhisattva): A guardian deity of health, recovery, safe childbirth, and child-rearing. Known as Ojizo-sama, Jizo Bodhisattva, who governs the earth that nurtures all life, is said to embrace and save people with his great compassion. Since there will be no Buddha in this world until Maitreya Bodhisattva appears in this world 5.67 billion years from now, Jizo Bodhisattva will save all living things during that time. Said to be an incarnation of King Yama, Jizo Bodhisattva is believed to save those who pray to him even once in this life by taking their place and saving them from the sufferings of hell, drawing many to his worship. Unlike other Buddhas, Jizo Bodhisattva is said to travel directly through the six realms of existence, including the realm of humanity, to provide salvation, earning him the affectionate name "Ojizo-sama." Incidentally, the six realms consist of the realm of humanity, the realm of heaven, the realm of hell, the realm of hungry ghosts, the realm of animals, and the realm of asuras. Cemeteries often have six Jizo statues enshrined. In Buddhism, this is called the Six Realms of Reincarnation, and one Jizo is in charge of watching over each realm, guiding ancestors and deceased loved ones who have been reincarnated into one of the six realms.
