[Explanation] "Kamen Rider Kuuga," which has been consistently ranked #1 for three consecutive years in a survey of existing "Kamen Rider" series Blu-ray purchasers regarding which Heisei Kamen Rider product they would like to see released on Blu-ray, is finally being released on Blu-ray! "Kamen Rider," which aired from 2000 to 2001, was the first TV series in 11 years. While paying homage to the "Showa Riders," it created a completely new "Kamen Rider," making it the memorable first installment of the "Heisei Kamen Rider" series. Joe Odagiri played Kamen Rider Kuuga/Yusuke Godai, and Shingo Katsuyama played Kaoru Ichijo, the detective who fights alongside Kuuga against the Grongi. It became a pioneer of the subsequent "handsome Rider" boom.

One of the special features of this Blu-ray is the inclusion of Japanese subtitles for the entire film, including a translation of the ancient language (Grongi and Rinto)! During its original broadcast, there were no translation subtitles for the language or writing system used by the Grongi, Kuuga's enemies, so this will be a welcome bonus for fans.

Yusuke Godai, who accidentally obtained Kuuga's transformation belt unearthed from an archaeological site, transforms into a warrior of justice through the mysterious power of the jewel hidden within the belt...that is Kamen Rider Kuuga!

[Notes] *The main feature video has been upconverted from SD material and undergone the latest HD conversion process.

"Kamen Rider Kuuga" was filmed with high-definition cameras at the time of production, but because high-definition broadcasting systems were not yet established for television broadcasting, the master was downconverted to the standard D2 format used for regular television broadcasts.

For this Blu-ray release, the upconversion process utilized the high-quality mastering system [FORS MASTER PROCESS] technology, customized specifically for Kuuga by a dedicated master craftsman.

We analyzed the existing original master (an interlaced master recorded in SD letterbox size), performed color correction, and meticulously removed jagged edges and cross-colors to achieve high image quality.
