The Laurel was released as a 4-door sedan in April 1968, followed by the 2000GX pillarless 2-door hardtop in June 1970.

The GX model was a sports grade vehicle equipped with an SU twin carburetor.

The rear combination lamps, which light up in a flowing, chain-like pattern, were a hot topic at the time.
