This piece features the "Yarai" crest, a traditional pattern representative of Edo Kiriko. "Yarai" is the name given to the shape of bamboo or logs braided in an alternating pattern. Yarai fences are used in the very first stages of castle construction and stage set making, so they have the meaning of "building the foundations of things" and "solidifying the base." It is a very auspicious pattern that has been loved since ancient times.
Edo Kiriko began in the Edo period and has been designated a traditional Japanese craft as a precious art that conveys the life of Edo to the present day. All pieces are handmade one by one by skilled craftsmen.
As all our products are hand-blown glass, there may be slight variations in size and color, and small air bubbles may remain, but this does not affect the quality.
Our products are widely used as gifts for weddings, births, housewarmings, 60th birthdays, 70th birthdays, 77th birthdays, wedding favors and thank you gifts, birthday presents, Mother's Day and Father's Day, recovery gifts, entrance and graduation gifts, employment gifts, promotion gifts, retirement gifts, and souvenirs.
Edo Kiriko is a traditional craft that began in the late Edo period and has been passed down through the hands of artisans. Each glass is carefully handcrafted by skilled Kiriko artisans. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including shochu, whiskey, and beer glasses, as well as soft drinks. They make a wonderful gift for loved ones or as a souvenir to take overseas.
