About the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's "302nd Squadron"
Since the "302nd Squadron" was established at Chitose Air Base in Hokkaido, its unit markings feature a white-tailed eagle motif, with its wings, tail, and legs each representing the "302" in the unit's name.
The F-4EJ Kai made its final flight at Hyakuri Air Base on March 19, 2019, and was relocated to Misawa Air Base on March 26 of the same year.
It was newly formed as the first squadron in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force to operate the next-generation fighter, the F-35A.
