Product Introduction
Thunder Models "1/35 British LRDG Ford F-30 Truck with Radio and Two Figures" plastic model.
All LRDG patrols were equipped with one vehicle equipped with Radio No. 11 and a non-military Philips 635 receiver.
Radio No. 11 was designed for use on tanks and contained both a transmitter and a receiver.
The LRDG used Morse code for all communications and could communicate over long distances using a 1.9-meter dipole antenna mounted on the truck, capable of reaching distances up to 800 kilometers,
or even longer distances using a Windham dipole antenna suspended from two 5.2-meter-high masts.
The drawback of using a Windham antenna was that it required time-consuming setup, limiting its use to relatively safe areas.
A spare battery was also carried to power Radio No. 11.
The Philips receiver was used to intercept Greenwich Mean Time, which was crucial for desert navigation.
The LRDG F-30's hood, doors, and roof have been removed, allowing for a clear view of the engine and other details, and has been meticulously recreated.
Small details, such as the sun compass and compass used to determine the aircraft's position, have been recreated.
Radio-related features include a Morse code key, microphone, and power switch.
